Major Milestone for The Cataract Institute (TCI)
April 2026
Montreal, QC – We are proud to share recent media coverage highlighting a major milestone for The Cataract Institute (TCI).
The Cataract Institute of Montreal is now the highest-volume cataract surgery centre in North America. TCIM performs more than 18,000 publicly funded procedures each year, helping thousands of patients regain their vision faster.
Through strong collaboration with local hospitals and an innovative care model, TCIM has played a key role in reducing wait times to below the national benchmark, with most patients now receiving surgery within 16 weeks. Beyond restoring sight, timely cataract surgery helps reduce the risk of falls, supports independence, and improves overall quality of life for patients.
This achievement reflects the power of collaborative healthcare in Quebec, delivering better outcomes for patients while freeing up hospital capacity for more complex care.
