The Cataract Institute Expands Access to Cataract Surgery with New Moncton Clinic
May 2025
Montreal, QC – The Cataract Institute is pleased to announce the opening of The Cataract Institute Moncton, a new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to expanding access to cataract surgery for patients across Southeastern New Brunswick. Located on Englehart Street in Dieppe, the 8,000-square-foot centre features advanced technology designed to support efficient, streamlined patient care.
Through a partnership with Vitalité Health Network and Horizon Health Network, The Cataract Institute Moncton will serve patients referred from hospitals. This shift to a dedicated outpatient setting will ease pressure on the public system and help reduce wait times while improving access to care across the region.
Led by Dr. Julien Saad, co-founder of The Cataract Institute Moncton, along with Dr. Gilles Cormier, Dr. Isabelle Savoie, and Dr. Houfar Sekhavat, the ophthalmology team at The Cataract Institute Moncton will perform more than 3,000 cataract surgeries annually, with capacity to exceed 5,000 procedures as needed. “We have brought together the best technologies and a highly qualified team of professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for our patients,” says Dr. Saad, ophthalmologist and co-founder of The Cataract Institute Moncton.
Patients will continue to receive fully covered care under the provincial health insurance plan, ensuring affordable and timely access to surgery.
